On-Prem Software Upgrade Path

When upgrading on-prem software, you must follow this procedure to avoid loss of data and functionality.

It is always recommended to create a system backup and copy it to another server before upgrading as well as making a VM or disk backup.

  1. Contact Alcatraz Customer Support (Submit a Ticket) with your current Platform version to obtain the necessary download links. Rock firmware downloads can be found here:  Rock Firmware Downloads
  2. After downloading the appropriate files and copying them to the Alcatraz Platform server, proceed with the following steps based on your current Platform version. For each upgrade step, run the corresponding installation executable. For example, if you are currently running v2.6.1, you would run the installers for versions 2.6.4, 2.7.2, and finally 2.8.0.

* After installing Platform v2.6.1, additional updates are automatically made to the system and could take up to 20 minutes or more to complete. Upgrading to 2.6.4 should not begin until the updates are finished. Failure to wait could result in loss of data. Progress can be monitored in the Audit Log under "Accounts".  If you previously changed the default PostgreSQL password, contact AAI Support before upgrading to v2.6.1.

** When installing Platform v3.0.0, additional updates are automatically made to the system and could take 1+ hours to complete. Upgrading to 3.0.1 should not begin until the updates are finished. Failure to wait could result in loss of data. Contact AAI Support for migration assistance!
