Understanding Image Retention Policy
The image retention policy governs if and how long images captured by a Rock are stored. This policy can be important to maintaining an organization's data privacy, security, and compliance guidelines.
Image Types
Enrollment Images:
These images are captured during the initial enrollment process and may be updated during normal system usage. These images are not used for authentication, but they may be helpful if an authentication model change requires re-enrollment.
Event Images:
These images are captured with each security event, such as "Tailgating", "Face Authentication", and "Unauthorized Entry". They can be used for investigative purposes to verify what happened.
Configuring Image Retention Policy
-
Log in to the Admin Portal and navigate to
Account Settings -> Image Retention Policy
-
Select the desired retention settings for each image type:
-
- Keep All - Retains all images indefinitely. Note: A lack of available hard drive space or Platform licensing may require the oldest event images to be deleted automatically.
- Retention Period - Specify the duration for which images should be retained (e.g., 30 days, 90 days, etc). After this time has passed, images will be deleted automatically.
- Do Not Retain - No new images are saved. Any existing images will be deleted.
