Tamper Factory Reset and Device Maintenance Mode on Rock devices through the Admin Portal.
Overview
This article explains how to configure Tamper Factory Reset and Device Maintenance Mode on Rock devices through the Admin Portal. These settings control how the device responds to tampering and how technicians can safely perform maintenance.
Tamper Factory Reset
Purpose:
Triggers a full factory reset and data wipe, including deletion of OSDP keys, if the device detects a sustained tamper condition.
How to Enable:
- Navigate to
Device Management
and selectDevices
. - Click on the
Name
of the Rock to access its information page. - Click
Setting
->Modify
to open the configuration settings. - Scroll down to
Device Configuration
and expand theDevice Setup
section. -
Toggle Tamper Factory Reset to ON.
Behavior:
If tamper is detected, the Rock will:
- Perform a factory reset
- Wipe all local data
- Delete OSDP keys
Maintenance Mode
Purpose:
Temporarily disables the factory reset behavior in response to a tamper signal while allowing normal operation and logging.
Note:
Maintenance Mode is only available after Tamper Factory Reset is enabled.
How to Enable:
1. With Tamper Factory Reset enabled, toggle Device Maintenance Mode to ON.
2. Set an expiration time to exit Maintenance Mode after a defined period automatically.
Behavior While Active:
- The Rock continues to authenticate users and operate normally.
- Tamper events are still logged, but no factory reset is triggered.
- After the configured time expires, the device automatically exits Maintenance Mode and resumes normal tamper handling.
