To change the network configuration or connect the Rock to a different server, a QR code is used.
New Rocks are configured for DHCP and to connect to the Alcatraz multi-tenant cloud server (US). If static IPs or a different Alcatraz Platform server are required, a QR code can be created and used to change the Rock’s network settings.
The "Activate QR Code" setting must be enabled for the Rock. When the setting is enabled, this icon will be displayed on the Rock.
Before taking the Rock offline for network changes, be sure to enable the setting in the Admin Portal.
If the Rock has been deleted from the Admin Portal and the icon is not displayed, a Factory Reset of the Rock will reset all settings and enable QR code reading.
- Follow the steps below to Generate a QR Code.
- Print or display the QR code on a phone, tablet, or laptop. Make the image as large and bright as possible and hold it in front of the Rock’s camera, approximately 6 to 9 inches away.
- Slowly move it closer and farther away until you see the green checkmark indicating that the QR code was read.
Within a few seconds, you will see the new network settings scroll across the bottom of the Rock’s display.
Steps to Generate a QR Code
- Log in to the Admin Portal and go to Device Management -> QR Code
- Select IPv4 or IPv6 Addressing
- Select either DHCP or select Manually to enter in a Static IP and network info.
- Enter the Server Location
- For Alcatraz AI Hosted Single Tenant systems, the Server URL/IP will be provided by Alcatraz AI.
- For on-prem systems, enter the IP Address of the Alcatraz AI Appliance or the server that is running the Alcatraz AI Platform software.
- Otherwise, use the pre-populated Alcatraz Platform IP Address.
- Confirm the info is correct
- Generate your QR code
If the QR Code information is incorrect, the Rock will not be able to communicate with the Alcatraz AI Platform and cannot be onboarded.
In addition, all required ports must be opened and URLs whitelisted according to Cloud or On-Prem.
